Multi-Sig
Custody scheme requiring multiple private keys to authorize a transaction.
Definition
Multi-Sig (Multi-Signature) is a Bitcoin security scheme that requires multiple digital signatures (private keys) to authorize the movement of funds. The most common setup is 2-of-3: 2 of the 3 available keys are needed to sign a transaction. This eliminates single points of failure: if one key is lost or stolen, the funds remain secure. It is the de facto standard for institutional Bitcoin custody at corporate treasury companies.
