Block Reward

The BTC reward paid to the miner who validates a block.

Definition

The Block Reward is the amount of Bitcoin received by the miner who finds the valid hash for the next block in the chain. Since the fourth halving in April 2024, the reward is 3.125 BTC per block. This reward is cut in half every 210,000 blocks (roughly every 4 years). When the Block Reward reaches zero (~year 2140), miners will earn transaction fees only.
