Spot Price

The current market price of Bitcoin for immediate delivery.

Definition

The spot price of Bitcoin is the price at which it trades in real time on cash markets. It differs from the futures price, which reflects expectations about future prices. Spot Bitcoin ETFs buy BTC at the spot price to back their shares. Corporate treasuries also buy at spot. The spot price is the reference input for calculating the NAV and mNAV of any treasury company.
